This course adapts the ideas in Hillel Himovich’s Manual Packing, published in Digital Whisper’s first issue in 2009. The original uses Windows PE files and OllyDbg; this version uses Mach-O executables and the standard macOS command-line toolchain on Apple Silicon.
Five lessons move from executable structure to packing, runtime unpacking, detection, and environmental keying. An animated terminal view makes the unpacking process visible. The repository also explains where modern memory protections and detection change the original exercise.
